Crafting Whiskey with Heart Local Tradition, Bold Character

Our whiskeys are made in the tradition of big, bold, and brave character by distillers who feel a little sweat goes a long way to making the perfect dram. We only work with Pennsylvania farmers and maltsters to source our heirloom grains, the way it was done before big commodity agriculture and corporate owned distillers took over. Even most of the oak used in our barrels comes from Pennsylvania because “local” isn’t just a marketing buzzword for us – it’s one of our primary reasons for making whiskey.

The Resurgence of a Whiskey Tradition

Iron City Distilling was born out of a desire to pursue a lost art and resurrect forgotten legacies. American Whiskey began its story in our home of Western Pennsylvania only to be brought to its knees by the (ig)noble experiment of Prohibition in the 1920’s. We’re here to write the next chapter.

Iron City Distilling has been designed from the ground up to produce an extinct style of whiskey – a liquid from the Golden Age of Pennsylvania’s whiskey heritage. Our whiskeys are forged using recipes, ideas, and methods from before Prohibition, a time when agriculture and industry were close allies of the distilling industry.
